Outdoor Gyms by Play on Art is a beautifully designed range of high quality outdoor exercise equipment within the Play on Art stable.

Our product was established in 2009 through extensive international research & local engineering. We have relationships with various regulatory bodies, ensuring that the utmost safety requirements are met.

Outdoor Gyms by Play on Art are manufactured in South Africa, thus creating job opportunities; skills development and not forgetting the advantage of local technical back up.

Our gyms are not suitable for children under the age of 13.

Each piece of equipment uniquely captures the essence of South African wild life.


The Ostrich – Air Skier

  • Provides gentle exercise for fitness beginners.
  • Develops, strengthens lower abdomen hips and thighs.
  • Improves balance and co-ordination through "core" activation.
  • Excellent warm-up and work-out.

The Waterbuck - Air Walker

  • Suitable for all ages and especially for those for whom jogging and power walking are not suitable.
  • Develops leg muscles.
  • Improves flexibility and strength, allowing a full range of movement in the hip joint without any impact or stress to joints and back.
Tip: lean slightly forward with upper body to prevent strain on lower back.

The Shongololo – Balance Beams

  • Provides a range of very effective activities for all ages.
  • Use for balancing exercises or for "bunny-hops".

Caution: Do not use the balance beams when experiencing knee/ankle problems.

The Buffalo - Double Rower

  • The back support prevents over extension of the back.

The Rhino - Sit Up Bench

  • Suitable for all ages.
  • Lower back strain is prevented and correct use of the piece is encouraged through the design.
  • Provides opportunities for an extension through to contraction of abdominal muscles.
Caution: do not go all the way up, only do crunches where the shoulders get lifted from the bench.

  • Can be used individually or by two people together for paired exercise.
  • Can increase speed and/or the number of repetitions for more strenuous exercise.
